Our Skills Providers
Elev802 Boston is AHA’s on-ice skills provider. AHA youth travel players receive 1-2 skills sessions per month at Elev802 Boston’s facility in Dundee Park in downtown Andover. Elev802’s instructors include owner Jon Hutcheon, who has worked as a skills coach for the St. Louis Blues and is the former head coach of the South Kent Selects Academy 16U team, former BU standout and longtime professional Chris Dyment and Kayla Friesen, former St. Cloud State and Clarkson standout and current member of the Boston Pride (NWHL). AHA also offers optional supplemental skills sessions to its members at Elev802 Boston for those players seeking additional development opportunities.
Xcelerated Performance is AHA’s dryland training partner and provides AHA youth travel players with regular dryland training sessions. XP sessions are now held at Elev802 Boston’s facility in downtown Andover. XP is led by Pat Gigante (KSI Coach, SSC, CPT). Pat has nearly twenty years of experience preparing athletes for elite competition in all sports at the collegiate and youth levels. With experience working with multiple professional athletes and top collegiate lacrosse, hockey, football, soccer, and baseball players, Pat has honed his ability to develop the entire athlete. Pat spent many years as the Strength & Conditioning Coach at Tufts University.
Erika Hammar is AHA’s power skating instructor. Erika has nearly thirty years of coaching experience and is well known to many in the both the hockey and figure skating worlds. She is a USFS (US Figure Skating) and PSA (Professional Skating Association) member and Category A Level instructor. Erika will work with our players on edge agility, control, balance, and stability.
AHA’s goaltenders receive supplemental training and instruction at Mike Buckley’s GDS in North Andover. Mike Buckley is the goaltending coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he has helped develop four Stanley Cup winning goaltenders. Before joining the Penguins, Mike was the goaltending coach at UMass Amherst and UNH. Mike has over a dozen professional clients, instructs over thirty college goaltenders and has helped produce several NHL draft picks and many NCAA Division I scholarship goaltenders.
Sarah Appleton is AHA’s on-ice Girls Hockey instructor. Sarah coordinates on-ice instruction and advises the Board of Directors on the growth and development of the AHA Girls Program. A native of New Canaan, CT, and graduate of The Berkshire School, Sarah was a four year letter winning defender on the Boston University women's hockey team from 2006-2010 and served as captain her senior year. Over the course of her college career she scored 49 points in 140 games and was awarded the John B. Simpson Award as a senior for her enthusiasm and leadership. Prior to joining AHA, Sarah coached with the Islanders Hockey Club, Cambridge Youth Hockey and at Boston Latin Academy.
