2022-23 Coed Rec Hockey - Registration Now Open!
Dear AHA Members and Friends:
Some of the most common complaints about youth hockey are that the season is too long, it’s too expensive, there is too much travel, and it is a hard sport to break into at an older age. To address some of those concerns, this winter AHA will be piloting a recreational hockey program. The season will start after Thanksgiving and wrap up in mid-March (with no games over the holidays or vacation weeks); the cost will be very reasonable; and the idea is to give those “late bloomers” a chance to give hockey a try. It’s also geared at kids for whom hockey would not be their primary activity, such as basketball players or skiers, with weekly sessions scheduled for late afternoon on Sundays.

Open to boys and girls birth years 2013-2008
Andover residents or non-residents
Sessions: Sundays at 3:20pm-4:20pm at Phillips Andover

Cost: $250 per player
Program capped at 30 participants
Weekly sessions will consist of 10-15 minutes of “stick practice” and 45-50 minutes of “pick up”. AHA coaches and high school aged volunteers will be on ice to supervise. All sessions will be held at the world class Phillips Academy Ice Rinks complex on Main Street in Andover, conveniently located minutes from Routes 93 and 495 and just down the road from plenty of dining and shopping options in downtown Andover.
USA Hockey registration and full ice hockey equipment is required for this program (including hockey skates, hockey helmet with face mask, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, pants, and stick). Participants must know how to ice skate.

*Calling current AHA goalies 2013-2008 - if you would like to get some free ice and serve as goalies during the rec hockey games please let us know! We are looking for two goalies each week.*
