AHA Academic Initiative

As writing can be an incredibly important learning tool to an athlete because it makes you learn about yourself physically and mentally, and thus be more prepared on and off the ice, we would like our players to do just so in an activity that should be both fun and beneficial.

To participate in the AHA Academic Initiative the athlete must write about his or her personal or team goals for the season – that is, what does he or she hope to achieve, change, develop, eliminate, etc.? These goals may be as an athlete, a student, or a member of a team, family or other community.

The idea is that if you think carefully, reflect sincerely, and write specifically (avoid generalizing) about what you want your season to look like, you will be one step further to achieving it.

All essays submissions will be processed by the AHA Academic Initiative Committee.  Every participant will receive a TSR gift bag, and the Committee will select one winner from each age level to receive a gift card to our favorite hockey store and sponsor TSR.

Below is an outline of the age level rules and rewards. All essays must be submitted by Sept 23, 2019. Submissions can be sent to coaching@andoverhockey.org.

  Good luck and have fun!
