Learn to Skate (LTS) and Learn to Play (LTP) Registration is NOW OPEN!

Learn to Skate (LTS) and Learn to Play (LTP) Registration is Open!

Registration is now open for the Andover Hockey Association's Learn to Skate (LTS) and Learn to Play (LTP) classes, one of the largest and longest running youth hockey development program in New England! Children from Andover and all surrounding towns are welcome to join the action. Boys and Girls ages 4+ are eligible to participate in LTS; ages 5+ with at least one year of experience with LTS or a comparable program are eligible to participate in LTP.

LTS will focus on basic skating skills that will form the foundation for a great hockey player in the future. The LTP program continues to develop the player’s skating skills, but also incorporates some of the fundamentals of hockey in a fun-filled atmosphere with supervised instruction. Both programs will not only teach your child how to play hockey but to also grow other traits such as perseverance and relationship building. Our mission is to ensure all kids have a positive experience on the ice and develop friendships that last a lifetime. Above all, we strive to ensure all kids are having fun while they're on the ice! Once your child's skates hit the ice we believe they will experience a surreal feeling and instantly be hooked on the game of hockey.

Full hockey equipment is required for these programs - this includes hockey skates, hockey helmet with face mask, hockey gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, hockey pants, and a hockey stick. Email us  at Initiation@andoverhockey.org if you have any questions about equipment including borrowing or purchasing.

Both Sessions are held on Saturday and Sunday mornings from October through March.

The fall season runs from October 8/9 through December 17/18 Saturday 8:00am LTS and 9:10am LTP; Sundays 8:20am for LTP and 9:30 for LTS. The spring season is from January 7/8 through March 11/12. Players have the option to sign up for one or both days, and for one or both sessions. There are no classes Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years' weekend.

We are also running a supplemental “pre-season” warmup clinic for any interested players on Saturday mornings prior to the official start of the season. This clinic starts September 17th.

All sessions are held at the world class Phillips Academy Ice Rinks complex on Main Street in Andover, conveniently located minutes from Routes 93 and 495.

Last spring, I introduced my five year old daughter to the game. After a couple of skates, she could stand and glide on her own. To me that is the greatest lesson from this program. When you fall you get back up and keep going. Now, about six months later, the best part for me as a parent is seeing her smile after she scores a goal or sitting on the ice laughing and joking with her friends. That is my vision that I want to see every kid and parent feel when they take part in our program.

Space is limited Register Today!

Due to the popularity of these programs, space is limited. If you have a budding hockey player in your family please register today, and please pass along the word to your friends, family, neighbors and classmates who may be interested.
