AHA PWs/U12s WIN Arlington Winter Classic!
A team made up of AHA's Pee Wee and U-12 players won the Arlington Hockey Club's Winter Classic Tournament, running the table with a perfect 5-0 record this week.
The team started the tourney with a come from behind win against Medford, then defeated a gutsy Somerville squad and a club team, the Rhode Island Junior Mounties, to finish the round robin portion in first place ahead of the teams they defeated earlier in the week as well as Belmont and the hosts from Arlington.
In yesterday's semifinals, the Warriors once again came from behind, clawing back from a 4-1 second period deficit to defeat Somerville again 5-4.
In this afternoon's finals rematch against Medford, the squad rode some stellar goaltending and lockdown defense, carrying a 1-0 lead into the third period and adding two late insurance goals to seal the victory and bring home the title.
The coed team was made up of players from across the AHA's Pee Wee and U-12 programs, and gave the kids a chance to play with their friends, neighbors, and classmates in a competitive local town hockey tournament. We hope it becomes a tradition across AHA!
Congrats to the team!
