Learn to Play/Learn to Skate - Registration Now Open!

"Learn to Skate" is the AHA's initiation program for children learning to ice skate. The focus will be on basic skating skills to form the foundation for a great hockey player in the future. Above all, we strive to ensure all kids are having fun while they're on the ice! Full hockey equipment is required for the LTS program, including hockey skates, a hockey helmet with face mask and a hockey stick. LTS is intended for boys and girls aged 4-7.

Structured around USA Hockey's Long Term Athlete Development Model, "Learn to Play" focuses on the fundamental concepts of hockey as well as balance, hand-eye coordination, skills and flexibility. The LTP program is designed for children aged 5-8 who have had one year of LTS or a comparable beginner ice skating program.

This year, we will run two, ten-week sessions of both LTS and LTP. Session 1 starts the weekend of October 16/17 and runs through the weekend of December 18/19. There will be no classes during the Christmas and New Year's weekends. Session 2 runs January 8/9 through March 12/13. Players may sign up for one or two classes per weekend (i.e, Saturday, Sunday or both), and can also register for both sessions now and receive a discount. Tuition is as follows:

1x week (Sat or Sun) for first session (10 weeks) = $125

1x week (Sat or Sun) for both sessions (20 weeks) = $200

2x week (Sat & Sun) for first session (10 weeks) = $200

2x week (Sat & Sun) for both sessions (20 weeks) = $375

All classes are held Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Phillips Academy Ice Rinks. Any questions - please contact initiation@andoverhockey.org.
