Learn to Play (LTP)
Thank you for your interest in the Andover Hockey Association's Learn to Play (LTP) program, one of the largest and longest running hockey development programs in New England!
The LTP program is designed for children age 4+ who have had at least one session of Learn to Skate or a comparable beginner ice skating program. Boys and Girls from Andover and all surrounding areas are welcome to join the action.
Structured around USA Hockey's model, players begin to work on the fundamental concepts of hockey as well as balance, hand eye coordination, skills and flexibility. The LTP program develops the players' skating skills, but also incorporates some of the fundamentals of hockey in a fun-filled atmosphere with supervised instruction. We will not only teach your child how to play hockey but to also grow other traits such as perseverance and relationship building. Our mission is to ensure all kids have a positive experience on the ice and develop friendships that last a lifetime. But above all, we strive to ensure all kids are having fun while they're on the ice! Once your child's skates hit the ice we believe they will experience a surreal feeling and instantly be hooked on the game of hockey.
Full hockey equipment is required for this program - this includes hockey skates, hockey helmet with face mask, hockey gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, hockey pants, and a hockey stick.
LTP sessions are held from October through March. Players have the option to sign up for one or both days, and for one or both sessions. There are no sessions Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years' weekends.
All sessions are held at the world class Phillips Academy Ice Rinks complex on Main Street in Andover, conveniently located minutes from Routes 93 and 495 and steps from plenty of dining and shopping options in downtown Andover.

No classes Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas/ New Year's weekends.
Winter Session (10 weeks) starts starts the weekend of January 4/5 and runs through the weekend of March 8/9.

Practices
Choose one or two sessions weekly, currently scheduled for Saturdays at 9:20 AM and/or Sundays at 8:20 AM.
Cost
1x/week (Sat or Sun) for 1 session (10 hours) = $225
1x/week (Sat or Sun) for 2 sessions (20 hours) = $350
2x/week (Sat & Sun) for 1 session (10 hours) = $350
2x/week (Sat & Sun) for 2 sessions (40 hours) = $550
2024-2025 LTP Session 1
For those kids who've had exposure to skating and now want to learn the fundamentals of hockey. Kids will expand on their skating ability while being introduced to the basics of hockey.
Session I runs from early October through mid December. Times TBD.
